Why This Discussion Matters
CBT has been a cornerstone in treating depressive disorders, often hand-in-hand with medication. Yet, as the digital age progresses, the advent of digital CBT has opened doors to more accessible treatment options. This poses an important question: Is digital CBT just as effective as the conventional, in-person sessions that have been the gold standard for years?
The article we’ll explore suggests that while traditional CBT has shown superior outcomes in initial findings, the gap between the efficacy of both approaches narrows significantly when factoring in variables such as the length of the intervention, the severity of symptoms at the outset, adherence rates, and the presence of human guidance in digital formats.
As we discuss and explore these insights, during journal club, you will consider other aspects of this article, too suc as: Could there be more variables at play? Might technological biases or societal influences sway the perceived efficacy of one form of CBT over the other?
